You can now remove duplicate records in Beacon by merging them together. This automatically combines all of the fields where possible and prompts you to choose between any values that can't be merged.
Be careful, though: Merges can't be reverted! With great merging power comes great responsibility.
You can read more about merging records in this article in the Beacon guide.
You may have already noticed an updated feel to our login pages. We've also done a lot of work behind the scenes to make our login flow more stable, friendly, and secure.
We've also improved security and clarified the restrictions around using multiple devices to access Beacon. This is also a good time to remind you that we strongly recommmend activating two factor authentication on your account. Also, here's our guide to choosing a secure password.
We've split the "fees" field on payment records into two new fields: "Beacon fees" and "Gateway fees". This makes it much easier to see whether fees are coming from Beacon (because you're using a Beacon form) or a payment provider (e.g. Stripe or PayPal).
Searching has been upgraded to return partial results (e.g. searching "dav" will return "David Simpson") and we've made filtering even more powerful. For example, you can now create filters like "show me everyone who has made more than 3 donations this year".
We've added support for the payment provider Braintree. An alternative to Stripe, Braintree support means you've now got even more choice when it comes to collecting donations and processing payments!
Stay tuned for the release of some great payment form updates, annual subscriptions, PDF export improvements, a gift aid declaration form, and more snappy UX improvements coming very soon!
See you next month!
