At Beacon we often deploy a new version of our systems several times a day.
It's called 'continuous integration' and it's the modern way of maintaining cloud-based software, rather than bundling up lots of little improvements into big, unwieldy releases.
To make sure you're always using the latest version of the Beacon's front-end you'll now see a friendly little box whenever there's a new deployment. Give it a click to refresh your browser and hey presto: You're on the very latest version of Beacon!
You'll notice some fancy new styling for input boxes to bring them up to date with the latest Material Design standards.
We've also implemented a novel two-stage Google reCAPTCHA system on all forms to fend off unwanted bot traffic. This makes your forms more secure, but doesn't interrupt the user flow by asking users to tick a box to prove they're not a robot unless we think there's a good chance that they are.
You can find out more about our Google reCAPTCHA system here.
People can now give recurring memberships as gifts via Beacon. The perfect thing for Christmas!
You must not use Beacon to sell raffle tickets in any way. One reason is that it is now against the law to gamble using a credit card. Another is that Beacon is not registered with the Gambling Commission to supply software for gambling. Sorry, but rules is rules!
We have a rather succinct article in the Beacon guide covering this.
Our intrepid band of Founder Members have been getting things off to a good start on Beacon's new private Facebook Group. It's a place to exchange ideas, tips, and best practices and all Beacon customers are now invited to join!
You can find the group here and we'd love to welcome you in.
The group is only available to Beacon customers.
Coming up, we're spending some time improving Beacon's billing systems - to make adding and removing users easier and invoices much simpler. We'll also be starting work on the Beacon Portal, which will allow users to securely update their information in Beacon.
